Thanks For The Heads Up People, Mon 5 Jan 2009
We have been talking to about 3 families in regards to going for an overnighter at CoCo Key in Fitchburg. These reviews have pretty much outlined what I expected the experience to be and since I am very short tempered when it comes to poor customer service/ experiences, I will let my wife know that we will NOT be venturing out to this resort. Really, it's too bad that a place so new could go so wrong when it comes to staffing and management.
CoCo Disaster, Sat 3 Jan 2009
Customer Service: We got there at 3:50, I thought... Okay, so maybe we're a little bit too early, but we should try anyway. I saw a lot of people hanging around in the hotel lobby, as in about 40 or so, and although it did strike me as odd, I didn't really pay too much attention. After waiting in the wrong line initially, (which I realized because the guy simply WALKED AWAY after seeing me standing there.) I gave my confirmation receipt to the blonde at the check-in desk. She typed in the number, and handed me back my piece of paper. 'Did you hear what's going on?' She asked me. 'No,' I said. Although I was picking up on there was SOMETHING going on. 'Well, housekeeping hasn't released all the rooms yet. So please, write you name and cell phone number on this list, and after we get the office manager's ok, we'll call you when the rooms are ready.' She barely looked me in the eyes. I should have known then. She told us to take our day pass voucher to the water park and they will call us when the room was ready. Naively, we thought, well we were a bit too early, perhaps it will only be a few minutes. As I walked towards the water park I overheard this conversation: 'Is that the list?' asked the other guy in the suit behind the desk who magically re-appeared. 'No, that's the new list. The rest is over there.' said the perky blonde. The man next to us canceled their reservation because the woman in the hotel lobby finally admitted that they were overbooked and there were NO rooms available. Food: the food line was NOT moving, two people at the register, two people in the back making food. The concession lines closed (Um, before I got my food, so I had to hang around a metal door for 5 minutes. Oh and after I ordered, they told me that they didn't have what I wanted and already paid for, so they offered me something else. Which I accepted without argument, and then told me it would take 10 minutes to cook. LMAO, you can't make this stuff up) Bathrooms: Oh yes, the bathroom, where there was no toilet paper on the roll, but layers of wet paper on the floor, sticking to your boots and/or flip flops. Summation: After waiting until EIGHT o'clock for a ROOM.. I went to the lobby....and said...'I have been waiting since 4 o'clock for a phone call that never came. I am leaving and I want my money back.' The unsurprised girl at the counter asked for my last name, and with all the power I had to be as nice as possible, I told her my last name, even spelled it for her.. and.......... wouldn't ya know? She couldn't find me in the computer. Grr. I handed her the confirmation slip, and I said.. 'Would this help?' She found me and then.... after a moment of silence, she looked at me and said, 'So, you would like to cancel your room?' To be honest I was quite stunned. And again, as nicely as possible, I replied: 'What room? You can't cancel something that you never had.' She walked away. There was no 'Excuse me, I'll be right back.' Not a word, just.. gone. Grrrrrr....... Some guy standing next to me said, 'Where did she go?' I said.. 'I have no idea. But I tell you this, I am FURIOUS right now.' He found another counter person, and asked to speak to the manager, the girl...... looked at him and said........ 'I don't know where my manager is right now.' Um. How's that for customer service? The manager was no doubt getting their you-know-what chewed out by someone else.... and she probably didn't want to say. But, STILL, that's not how you handle a customer with a grievance. Finally the girl I was talking to came back, told me I would get a refund, and they would send it by CHECK, because I pre-paid., Oh yes, the benefit of pre-paying so you know, that when you go to the place to enjoy yourself... you are all set. Ha!
CoCo Key Fitchburg Is NOT SAFE!!, Tue 30 Dec 2008
I went there a few days after it opened with my 4 year old and within 15 minutes had a concussion and injured shoulder. First the water pressure on the slides was too high (fast) my daughter was terrified after going down the toddler slide (and she loves swimming). I asked 2 life guards if she was big enough to go on the large slide (I figured if I was with her it would be safer) and receiving a 'no problem'. Half way down the water started running so fast that the tube was being thrown back and forth, finally it slammed my head into the slide with a force like I have never felt. I almost blacked out and was scared to death my daughter was going to fall off and drown. Once we exited the tube the lifeguard asked if I was ok and I shook my head no. I told them I felt dizzy, instead of trying to help me they just kept asking if I would like a glass of water. Later after having to ASK the manager for tickets to come again on another day, because I was in too much pain to stay they decided to fill out an accident report. I had to drive myself in tears to the hospital with my daughter to find out I had a concussion and hairline fracture in my shoulder. The place is run by idiots. BE CAREFUL!!!
What A Waste Of Time!, Tue 23 Dec 2008
Okay, I've been to the Coco Key in Danvers, MA the kids loved it and my overall stay there has always been great. I figured we try this one being that it's new and figured they would have a little more to offer. Check in time was suppose to be at 4:00pm, we were told to get there an hour early. We arrived at 3:30pm and stood in line for 1hr and a half. There were NO rooms available. I don't understand how could that be when I reserved online and not only that, but check out time is 11am. We finally got our room at 5:00pm! We made our way to the water park. The water area is nice, but a little smaller then Danvers, MA. Okay, so now the kids are hungry. We had to wait almost 20minutes for our food because there no more pizzas or bread sticks. Instead of the staff making sure there are mini pizza'a avaliable for purchase, they're making themselves milk shakes. We finally get our food and make it up to our room. What happens next? The dang toilette is clogged, there was no hot water and the heat wasn't working. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!
