Springstep offers a variety of multicultural programming open to people at all levels of experience and age. The inclusive spirit of Springstep provides a special environment where everyone can enjoy and benefit from world traditions and art forms.

Springstep's mission is to preserve, create and celebrate traditional and contemporary arts, music and dance in an inclusive and multicultural environment.

By sharing the artistic expressions of our diverse cultures, and encouraging innovation and collaboration among traditional artists from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, we learn to explore and define our own cultural identity while gaining an appreciation and respect for the cultural heritage of others.

The Folkal Point - Springstep's Coffeehouse!:
The Folkal Point, Springstep's weekly coffeehouse, is hosted by Fishken & Groves — Massachusetts-based traditional song stylists.

Every Friday night the Folkal Point Coffeehouse alternates between Open Mic Nights and the Concert Series, but it always features great music. How do we describe artists who perform at The Folkal Point? Their roots are showing! Fishken & Groves present artists who perform traditional music or whose contemporary sound is clearly steeped in tradition.

Style will vary from folk to old-time, to bluegrass, to blues and might even nudge into roots-based rock. Rest assured that every artist presented in our inaugural season will simply knock your socks off! As you might expect at a coffeehouse, coffee and other beverages will be served along with some great eats.

About Springstep:
Founded in 2000 by Deborah Hawkins, Springstep is the culmination of a long hoped for and shared vision of a dedicated space for the celebration of world traditions; a space where people can gather to create and exchange artistic energy and celebrate their cultural heritage and traditional art forms. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, our programs depend on community support from individuals, corporations and foundations.
