Belmont KidSpace, a cooperative indoor play space for kids age 5 and under invites families to escape from the cold and experience a wide-range of playtime fun. Overall, best suited for the younger set.

This parent-run cooperative play space, located in the basement of a local church, provides a safe place where kids can run, jump and climb, take a spin in a cozy coupe or tricycle in the half-court gym, play dress-up, engineer a train table, or spend time whipping-up some pretend goodies in the play kitchen.

There are two large areas in which to play. The first room, upon entering is equipped with a variety of tables with trains, a dollhouse, blocks and the like. The youngest tots have their own area with mats in the back of the room to roll and crawl about. Parents and caregivers are free to have a cup of coffee, chat with old friends, and meet new ones as well.

There is a half-court gym where kids can burn off energy on the Little Tikes-like climbing apparatus, slides, and various driveway playcars.

Kids 5 and under and their families from Belmont and neighboring towns are invited to come and play in this dynamic indoor play space that features lots of building toys, dress-up costumes, bikes and cozy coupes, trains, dolls, and so much more.

KidSpace is a cooperative organization where families become members and help take care of, grow, and enhance the KidSpace community.

More About Kidspace:
Belmont KidSpace is an indoor drop-in play space for parents and pre-schoolers. KidSpace started with a group of parents concerned about the lack of indoor play space during the winter months as well as the need for parents to get to know one another in a kid-friendly environment. The group organized as The Belmont Parent’s Network, and received its non-profit status in 2003.

To keep the doors of KidSpace open, parents are encouraged to volunteer at least 10 hours each season. Volunteer opportunities come in many forms, however the most common is “working a shift” during regular KidSpace hours. Other volunteer responsibilities can be handled from your home...during nights or weekends...or as a special project. If every family contributes just a few hours, KidSpace will continue to grow!

Volunteer staffing helps to keep KidSpace accessible and affordable to everyone and helps to keep entrance fees and snack fees low. In addition, many of the toys and equipment are donated by local businesses and by members of the community. As a non-profit organized, tax-deductible donations are welcome, and donors will receive a written acknowledgement for their gift.

Somerville View On Belmont Kidspsace, Mon 12 Feb 2007

One recent cold Saturday morning I browsed options on BosonCentral.com and picked the Belmont Kidspace to take my 3 and 5 year olds. We met friends from Belmont with 4 and 1 year olds. Our friends had not been there before, although it was blocks from their house. Kids and parents all had a fine time. The space is large and full of fun things. Definitely targeted for youger kids. My 5 year old had a good time, but compained a little after that the toys and equipment were for smaller kids. I liked how efficiently it was run and talked to some of the volunteers. They explained that the membership requirement that each member volunteer for 3 90 minute sessions has enabled them to greatly expand their hours.

We make best efforts to update information, but it changes frequently, so we cannot warrant it. Please call to check Belmont Kidspace schedules, fees, and directions before making the trek. We help you, please help us. Report an Error if you find one.
