Old Sturbridge Village Birthday PartiesA great place for a memorable birthday experience. Several themes to
choose from (all in period costumes), including period games, a tea
party, base ball, and making a toy wooden boat. Gatherings designed for up to eight children include Village admission

For a memorable birthday, parents are discovering that Old Sturbridge Village is the right place at the right time - 1838, that is. The history museum offers parties on various themes, some seasonal, others offered year-round, for groups of up to eight children (ages 6 to 15) and two adults.

All are designed to provide loads of fun - even some education - as
participants don 1830s clothing and explore life in an earlier time.

A Fashionable Tea Party Theme
One of the birthday party themes offered by Old Sturbridge Village
any time of year is A Fashionable Tea Party, where participants bake
a cake at the hearth and learn about 19th-century table manners, such
as sipping tea from the saucer! Partygoers also play period parlor
games and make a 'secret' (a 19th-century party favor) to take home.

Play Ball! Theme
Another theme, offered from April through October, is Play Ball!,
where participants learn about the game before the Major Leagues were
born, play a game or two, and work on a period baseball to take home.

The centerpiece of each theme - also including Fun and Games (year-
round) and Setting Sail (Apr.-Oct.) - is a 90-minute program led by
museum staff and a hands-on activity resulting in a take-home
project. Details of each program are available online at

The birthday child receives an OSV T-shirt and a memory book signed
by all. Refreshments (lemonade and fresh-baked cookies from OSV's
Bake Shop) are also included.

Cost
Museum admission for the group to explore the Village before or after
the party is included in the $165 fee ($135 for Village Members).
Parties are generally booked on Saturdays or during school vacation
weeks at 10:30 a.m., noon, or 1:30 p.m.
