AMC trips and facilities are a wonderful way to introduce your kids to the outdoors.

The Appalachian Mountain Club is the nation's oldest outdoor recreation and conservation organization. Local AMC chapters sponsor thousands of activities a year, many for families. Anyone can participate.

Since 1876, the AMC has promoted the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Northeast. The AMC has nearly 90,000 members in 12 chapters, and over 450 full time and seasonal staff.

AMC Local Outings
The AMC hosts 8,000+ outings each year, from local chapter activities to major excursions worldwide, for every level and outdoor interest from hiking and climbing to paddling to snowshoeing and skiing.
View AMC Chapter calendars for upcoming trips, hikes, and outings.

AMC Getaways
Over 140,000 guests each year visit AMC lodges, huts, full-service camps, cabins, shelters and campgrounds.

AMC Four-Season Lodges
Enjoy comfort in magnificent settings. Do your own thing, or join a guided activity. Lodges are a great way to get kids started on outdoor fun year-round. Enjoy:
- Family programs, from summer fun to winter ski packages
- Family-style dinners, all-you-can-eat breakfast, unches & snacks for sale
- Private rooms or shared bunkrooms
- Workshops, activities and guided outings.
- Comfy common areas.
- Expert staff

AMC Campgrounds offer rustic accommodations in spectacular settings and endless outdoor options, especially for paddlers.

Full Service Camps
AMC's volunteer-managed, full-service camps are located in some of the most spectacular natural settings in the northeast and beyond, AMC camps offer weeklong opportunities to hike, bike, paddle, swim, and meet new friends. Whether at lakeside or mountaintop, friendly staff prepare and serve meals at each camp. Most also offer organized programs and conservation activities.

'Hike-in' Huts
A great destination for families, AMC Huts offer a range of 'big mountain' adventures and activities for kids of all ages, whether it's your child's first hike or a summer challenge for your teen. Each a day's hike apart along the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire's White Mountains, AMC Huts offer mountain hospitality in spectacular locations above treeline or near mountain lakes or waterfalls.

Backcountry Campsites & Shelters
The AMC maintains numerous popular backcountry campsites in New Hampshire's White Mountains and Maine's Mahoosuc Mountains, most on the Appalachian Trail, and are managed under anagreement with the U.S. Forest Service and the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.

AMC Cabins
Do-it-yourself cabins provide a quiet getaway where you plan and cook your own meals and plan your own excursions.
