The Wilson Farms website also features a neat kids page with all sorts of farm related games and links to explore.

A Brief History of Wilson Farms:
The farmstand that customers see today; which includes the huge timber barn sitting amongst our 33 acres of growing fields, along with the 37,000 square foot greenhouse, - all began in 1884. Two visionary farmers, newly transplanted from Ireland; James Wilson and his brother-in-law George Reynolds, farmed 16 acres here in Lexington and loading their horse drawn wagon, transported their vegetables to Quincy Market in Boston.

Fast forward 117 years and four generations: and you'll find that all five of the first vegetables grown here are still being harvested, and the beloved chickens at Wilson's are still in residence. (It's rumored that a few hens are 20th generation descendents from the original brooders.)

Today, this fourth generation of Wilsons, along with our extended families, and employees, uphold the tradition of hands-on family pride along with that unmistakable can-do New England spirit.

5-starWilson's Farm
We love this farm and frequent it often since it's location is so close by. Their produce is a little more exy than other places like Russos but you know it will be top quality and will last longer. We take our toddler there every fall for the Halloween hayride. They decorate the huge fields with 'scary' scenes and drive you through the fields. the kids get either some candy or an apple afterwards. The lines can be long during the weekend so it's best to go during the week if you can. They also make awesome cider donuts fresh..... candy apples too right in front of you and of course apple cider. Plus they always have some other fresh produce they have made into an amazingly delicious dish for you to sample. I always get our son's birthday cake there. Scott is in charge of the cakes. He is not only very obliging but has such a passion for his craft and for the farm in general that it is such a pleasure to work with them. Not only that but you get the most amazing and delicious cake to the exact design you want... if not better! For an amazingly low price! I would recommend just going at any time of the year. They hold classes for adults and have farm animals as well as educational classes for kids. Our toddler is too young for the classes as yet. The staff is clearly a part of the family there and enjoy serving you.
