Others to Consider: Castle Island & Fort Independence, Auburndale Cove, Alpine Field Playground, Perron Park Playground, NARA ParkIdeal for toddlers through age 5. The fenced in playground is a good size, with a mulched play area and a gazebo. Most equipment is geared toward little ones with smaller slides, creative structures, and 4 safety & 2 regular swings. The structures are brightly colored and there is a giant in-ground sandbox full of trucks, shovels & buckets for little kids to play.
There is not much shade here, so hot summer days can be a little steamy. Although most of the equipment is hard plastic, the slides and flat areas can still get hot in the sun. There is a small covered gazebo to escape the sun, and a perfect spot for kids to grab a snack or for moms who need to nurse.
There are soccer fields surrounding the playground for running, jumping, playing & picnicking; as well as a skate park for older kids. Restrooms are available just outside the gate between the playground & the parking lot.

From Route 128: Take Exit 26/Route 20 West to Wayland Center (Intersection of Rtes. 126/27). Turn right and follow Route 27 (forks to the left) through Sudbury Center. Continue through the light past the churches. The road turns into Hudson Road. After about a mile, turn right onto Fairbanks Road. The playground is on the left, and Atkinson Pool (indoor public swimming pool) is on the right.
