At The Rivers School Conservatory, our summer programs provide a range of music programs and musical activities for children ages 3 to 17. These co-ed day programs offer jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, youth orchestras, private lessons, music theory, musical games, and singing. It’s a fun way to explore music in an exciting environment for growth, development, and making new friends.

Summer Jazz at RIVERS
Grades: 6-12
Hours: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Dates: Session I: June 22-July 2, 2009 (includes Sunday, June 28th); Session II: July 6-17, 2009
The Summer Jazz at Rivers provides intensive jazz studies to individuals interested in extending their knowledge and skill. Each two-week sessions consists of private lessons, daily ensemble rehearsals, techniques of improvisation classes, color/ear training classes, masterclasses with visiting clinician, and a final performance featuring all ensembles.

Summer Music at RIVERS

Summer Music at Rivers aims to inspire the whole student musician. Every facet of music-making is explored, from solo and ensemble performance to theory, composition, and improvisation. Knowing that there is much to be learned from each other, we place an emphasis on creating a community of musicians. Every student is part of a chamber group, and all students join together daily to form a chorus. Students also receive a total of four individual lessons over two weeks and are part of small, activity-based solfege and theory classes.

Musical Mornings
Ages 3 to 6
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Dates: Session I: August 3-7 2009; Session II: August 10-14, 2009
Musical Morning provides two, one-week sessions that introduce music to younger children. Children will participate in many rhythmic and movement activities, explore musical instruments, and take part in fun, musical games.
