Swordsmanship, Fencing & Martial Arts, Habitat Education Center & Wildlife SanctuaryThe D.A.R.E. program (standing for 'Drug Abuse Resistance Education') is well-known for its work in the public school system: in many schools, local police officers visit regularly and lead games and lessons that stress the importance of avoiding drugs.
D.A.R.E. Days Summer Camp is based on the same principles, offering recreational activities, guest speakers and field trips that give children healthy alternatives to drug abuse and violence. Police officers have been trained in this trust-building group program that 'emphasizes building self-esteem, cooperation and communication based on activities and philosophies developed through D.A.R.E.'
Schedule
Mondays and Tuesdays: 9:00 am - 12:00 noon at Nettle Middle School
Wednesdays and Thursdays: 9:00 am - 12:00 noon at Silver Hill Elementary School
Applications
Due to the popularity of the program, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants may attend both sites providing they have transportation.
Applications will be available as of June 15 at the Haverhill Police Station (address below), and they must be returned no later than June 26.
