Children have fun while they explore a variety of media and learn about art history. Painting, drawing, sculpture, basic pottery, and basic printmaking are all part of the curriculum. Artists studied include Henri Matisse, Alexander Calder, Piet Mondrian, and Arthur Dove. Classes are divided into two age groups: grades 2-5 and 6-8.
Class size is limited to 6 students - elementary school and middle school aged
The classes are taught by John Judge, professional artist and father of two elementary-school-aged children. John has a master’s degree in painting and drawing from the Art Institute of Chicago. He exhibits his work nationally.
The classes take place in Gorse Mill Studios, an historic 19th- century building newly converted into artist studios.
