Puddlestompers gives children ages 2 to 5, and their parents or caregivers, an opportunity to explore and discover the great outdoors.

Class topics have a seasonal theme. They may include exploring animal habitats or doing a little 'bug hunting.' Classes are designed to connect kids to the natural world and give them an appreciation of it. Each class ends with a snack and a story related to the day's theme.

Explore…Discover…Learn!
Puddlestompers provides creative, age-appropriate tools and basic concepts to gently guide a young child’s exploration and discovery of the mysteries of nature. Puddlestomers also educates parents and caregivers with natural history and safety information, tips and resources for broadening a family’s connection to the outdoors.

Puddlestompers also brings many of children’s favorite indoor activities to the outdoors. By singing, dancing, reading and doing crafts under the sky, in a forest or by a pond, our programs stimulate a child’s development while introducing them to the natural environment.

Fabulous Concept But Not So Good In The Execution...
I really loved the idea of getting my child out and about during the winter vacation break but I was left fairly unimpressed with the teacher. During drop off, the teacher made no attempt to interact with my daughter who was atypically showing some resistance to being left in a new environment. I asked to stay for a few moments and saw several other parents struggle to leave their kids behind whilst the teacher went on with the class and pretty much ignored the children's distress. There was a high school student who did some helping (ie checked off the late arrivals on a form) but that was it. On the positive side, the information she was giving the children was interesting and engaging but it seemed a bit forced given the fact that some children were obviously uncomfortable and fretful. My suggestion is to sign up only if you are sure your children are OK with minimal 'hand holding' or go for the classes where parents/caregivers also participate.
