“Two tenacious preteens… strive to get to the briny bottom of a 50-year-old local legend and prove the Great Spotted Whale swims in their town’s harbor…These extraordinary black-and-white illustrations, etched with details, crosshatches, shadows, and shading, charge the children’s expedition with a pulsing, breathless urgency.” Kirkus — Starred review.

Ethan and Vita will discuss their process and collaboration with young actors and photographers.

Visitors will have a chance to document their own imagined whale search as they use a green screen photo booth and don costumes and utilize props and objects seen in the book.

Note: Ethan Murrow is also the artist for the ICA’s current Art Wall installation, on view through November 27.
