Drop-In Art Workshops: Artbeat

A great idea for kids and adults to try the drop-in open studio for craft projects. The hands-on art studio is open to the public on a drop-in basis. (On Sunday, call first to check that no party is running). Serving artists from 4 - adult.

The Artbeat store/studio houses a unique collection of fun and creative gifts, do-it-yourself kits, and specialty arts and crafts materials such as rubber stamps, watercolor supplies, and weaving looms.

Though I read the website carefully, I was surprised on arriving at Artbeat that we had to pay a materials charge for EACH item we worked on, as well as the item price. The attendant was quite vague about what the charge would actually BE, though the owner tried to clear it up when I finally asked for her. Negotiate a price limit with your kid before entering the shop, as charges quickly add up. Coat hooks were right next to painting tables -- wear something old.
