– Join the Gorse Mill Studios artists for a 'Feast for the Eyes' at Gorse Mill Studios’ sixth annual holiday open studio and art sale event on December 2nd and 3rd at 31 Thorpe Road in Needham.

This special annual event is free will feature art demonstrations including glass blowing, wine tasting from Needham's vinodivino, food and pottery from Sweet Basil’s celebrity chef Dave Becker, and delicious samples from Needham’s Sweet Corner.

Additionally, more than three dozen artists will open their studios for the public to both see their work and have an opportunity to purchase unique, locally made artwork, including pottery, hand-blown glass, jewelry, paintings, encaustic art, photographs, and other work without having to go to a Newbury Street gallery or boutique.

This open studio holiday celebration, wine tasting, and food sampling builds on last year’s very popular Gorse Mill Studios’ December event, and will provide visitors an opportunity to see art demonstrations and a wide variety of artists and craftspeople in their studios, many of which are open to the public only twice a year.

Visitors will also enjoy expertly selected wines from vino di vino, samples of the wonderful food of Dave Becker from Sweet Basil, and the delectable creations from Needham’s Sweet Corner.

The gallery will also host the wine tasting and food sampling, so visitor can enjoy food and refreshments while viewing the works on display.

The weekend will also feature creative activities and art demonstrations, including pottery and mosaic making demonstrations.

Additionally, several other local artists will be participating in the event.
Among the many participating artists is the husband and wife team of Jon Betsch and Emily Abbott of Simple Syrup, who will be demonstrating glass blowing.

Emily and Jon recently renovated their studio after taking a hiatus from the open studio events.

They have been creating their unique glass work for more than two decades and their glassblowing skills are fascinating to watch.
The renowned vinodivino wine shop from Needham, Newton, and Brookline will be returning to Gorse Mill Studios to offer a taste of their personally selected fine wines during the event.

“We cherry pick exceptional wine that is also the best value for the money at various price points,” said Raphael Keller-Go, owner of vinodivino.

“The holiday open studios wine tasting at Gorse Mill Studios gives visitors a chance to try various wines in a fun and interesting art gallery environment,” he added.
The Gorse Mill artists are also excited to team up with Sweet Basil’s Dave Becker for a second year in a row.

“Dave has shown that cooking is just as much of an art form as painting or sculpture,” notes Jeremy Ogusky, a ceramic artist who owns a studio at Gorse Mill Studios.

“His artistic skills aren’t restricted to the kitchen,” Jeremy shared, “as he is also a very talented potter and author, although it is very easy to get distracted by the mouth-watering smell of his kitchen creations.”
Also complementing the visual arts on display in the gallery will be the European desserts and savory delights from Sweet Corner, a European bakery and café that is a hidden gem on Great Plain Avenue in downtown Needham.

Sweet Corner was recently purchased by Konstantina Choros, who can usually be found working behind the counter.

According to Konstantina, “we are really happy to participate in this special community event and share with our neighbors.” Konstantina’s favorite treats are mini-donuts and she promises to bring some for visitors to enjoy.

She’ll also be bringing other surprises, including a Greek dip based on an old family recipe.
