Enjoy two days of celebration on and around the Concord, Assabet, and Sudbury rivers. Participating organizations come from Billerica to Framingham, including Drumlin Farm, the Concord Museum, Emerson Umbrella for the Arts, the Wayside Inn, and the Minuteman National Historical Park.
Activities include hiking, kayaking, and fishing, as well as a floating Dixieland jazz concert and boat tours.
Assabet Valley River History:
Congress designated the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Rivers as National Wild and Scenic Rivers in 1999. The product of many years of hard work by advocates throughout the watershed, this designation recognizes the unique character of these rivers and provides for their added protection.
The River Stewardship Council (RSC), comprising local, state and federal representatives as well as two regional conservation organizations, was established to coordinate conservation of the 29 miles designated as Wild and Scenic. Together with the National Park Service, the RSC evaluates federal permits and facilitates efforts to preserve and improve river resources.
To celebrate these rivers and highlight their importance in our communities, the RSC is pleased to present this sixth annual RiverFest.
