The Backstage Boogie Auction to benefit Stoneham Theatre will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Sheraton Colonial Hotel & Golf Club in Wakefield. The evening will begin with a champagne reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and a live auction and will be capped off with dancing to music provided by the Bill and Bo Winiker Band. The band has performed at Bill Clinton's Inaugural Ball, at the 150th Anniversary for the Boston Public Library, and at the 125th Anniversary of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Many area businesses and individuals have generously donated items for the auction this year. There are wonderfully irresistible items to fit everyone's budgets and interests: from gift baskets for the poker player or gardener, to exotic vacations, to Red Sox tickets, to scuba diving lessons, even a fully stocked wine cellar and so much more. Many of our fellow non-profits have also donated unique 'behind the scenes adventures' that can not be purchased at any store.
These include behind the scenes tours of the Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo, tickets to Boston Ballet's production of Don Quoxite next fall complete with a back-stage tour of the Wang Center, and tickets to Williamstown Theatre Festival that include a meeting with Artistic Director and star of stage and screen Roger Rees (Nicholas Nickelby). Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on a 'walk on role' during a performance Stoneham Theatre's production of A Christmas Story.
Thanks to several wonderful area restaurants that are generously donating the food for dinner, we will have an equally irresistible menu to tempt and delight everyone's taste buds. This years restaurant sponsors are Savory Tastes Café of Reading, Felicia's, Rang Indian Bistro, and Satto II all of Stoneham, and Harrington's Food and Spirits of Wakefield.
It promises to be a wonderful evening - we hope to see you will be able to join us.
