In this unique one-week class taught by Kate Kelly, students will focus on scene work and on-camera monologues from film and television.

Teens will improve upon skills such as character development, making distinct character choices, partner interaction, cold readings and memorization — all necessary for success as an on-screen actor. As a potential film or television actor hoping to audition for on-screen work, it is important to understand everyone’s role on set, so students will also get the chance to play director and casting associate during mock auditions.

If your teen actor wants to enhance their performance skills and audition savvy, while making new friends and having fun, then this is the summer camp for them!

This weeklong intensive course will include both a performance for parents and a business seminar where parents will learn the “how-to’s” of quickly breaking down scripts with their teen and preparing them for an audition.

Students will leave the class with DVD recordings of the best examples of their acting skills to use for their demo tapes!

Kate Kelly is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, the Actor’s Equity Association, and has been a professional actor and teacher for over ten years. She holds an M.A. in Theater Education from Emerson College and recently accepted a position as lecturer in Children’s Theater at Curry College. Kate has performed at several theaters in the Boston area and has appeared in videos and industrials for clients including Ann Taylor, Barnes & Noble, Sheraton Hotels, and PBS. Kate is the former director of member services for StageSource in Boston, and is currently a drama specialist in the Waltham Public Schools.
