Instructor Bonnie Drexler helps children in grades K-2 brighten their windowsills with cheerful green plants they have started themselves by recycling seeds, pits, and vegetable tops. “Garbage gardens” will arise from carrots, apples, oranges, grapefruit, ginger, leaf cuttings, and more. Make a dinosaur diorama with giant ferns. Go home with a box full of baby plants to cheer up a winter windowsill.
