Dr. Rosalie Fink, author of Why Jane and John Couldn’t Read—And How They Learned, will discuss 'Enhancing Your Child's Interest in Reading' at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston, 60 Stein Circle, Newton.

At this free Schechter Reads event, Dr. Fink , a literacy professor at Lesley College, will address learning to read issues, as well as how parents and teachers can foster a love of reading with their children.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion period, when parents may ask specific questions about their child's reading issues. Dr. Fink is an expert at discerning whether a child is really connecting with the material he or she is reading.

Dr. Fink's book is on sale in the Schechter office. She will sign copies after the lecture. Refreshments will be served. Teachers attending the program will have an opportunity to earn Professional Development Points.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Stacy Grossman at 617-243-0578 or stacygrossman@comcast.net.
