Classes for children and adults in all things creative!
Offering the following classes:
Music Together® Mixed Ages
Mixed Class Newborn - 4
Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because it fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones; older children learn by leading the younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments.
Musical Playgroups
Musical Playgroups, infants-3 yrs.
Beginning on April 17th drop in on Thursdays from 11:15am - 12:15pm to play with musical instruments and fun props to recorded music. Great setting for Moms and Dads to have a chance to chat with each other and relax. Playgroups will not include any organized activities.
Fee: $5 per child, 8 months and under free with a paying sibling. Pack of 10 playgroup tickets can be purchased for $40.
Suzuki Piano and Violin lessons
The Suzuki method is a teaching system developed by the Japanese violinist and educator Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998). The essentials of the Suzuki method are an early beginning, parental participation, and rote learning. The children look, listen, and imitate. There are regular private lessons and periodic group lessons. Children as young as two-and-a-half or three years old are accepted without any preselection, and introduced to music one step at a time.
Children trained in the Suzuki method learn to play the same way they learn to speak, by hearing a sound and then reproducing it. This is what Suzuki calls the mother-tongue method. The pupils imitate not only their teachers but also their peers, and find confidence in the common enterprise. Parents are essential to the success of the training and are involved directly as home teachers. Parental participation is inversely proportional to the age of the child - the younger the child, the greater the parental involvement.
African Drumming
New drop off class for children ages five to eleven.
This class is designed to introduce children to the world of drumming. Using movement, call & response, songs, games and rhythm instruments. Children will have the opportunity to explore their innate sense of rhythm in a non-performance setting. Students will learn authentic rhythms from West Africa and the Caribbean. They will play West African drums and other percussion instruments. The class will also give students a fun opportunity to create their own rhythms.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre Workshop - Pocket Full of Tales
Scripted original musicals are the leaping off point for our Musical Theatre Workshops. Your child will experience adventures in acting, dancing, singing, art and teamwork! An exciting and fun introduction to the world of musical theater and a chance to work with a professional acting teacher on a great show!
Dramacise
