The Assabet Valley chapter of Mothers & More will host author Kristin Maschka, who will read from and discuss her new book, THIS IS NOT HOW I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE: Remodeling Motherhood to Get the Lives We Want Today on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Tatnuck Bookseller, 18 Lyman St., Westborough, Mass. from 7-9 p.m. The chapter is so excited to share this special author event with local moms that they are hosting the event in conjunction with their open house. If this is a recurring event that will be happening again this year, please let us know.
As a mother, long-time member and past president of Mothers & More – the national organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers – Kristin Maschka explores the epiphany every mother has when the disconnect between “ideal family life” and real life becomes all too clear. In THIS IS NOT HOW I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE, Maschka goes below the surface of mothers’ everyday challenges to reveal the invisible, outdated assumptions about mothers, fathers, money, marriage and work that are completely out of sync with today’s families.
Maschka weaves together her own story, anecdotes from Mothers & More members and mothers across the country, and a deep knowledge of history and society to offer mothers a book that inspires with simple, concrete tools mothers can use to remodel motherhood for themselves, their families and their future.
“We are thrilled to host Kristin in person to talk about the important issues she raises in her book,” said Michele Quattrin, co-leader for the Assabet Valley chapter of Mothers & More. “Kristin has such an insightful way of talking about the challenges mothers face, allowing us to see the world we are surrounded by in a whole new way. We invite all mothers in our area to join us for this discussion and meet Kristin.”
