The ballet traces Alice’s encounters with such legendary figures as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, and the irascible Queen of Hearts with her retinue of Cards. In a whimsical game of chess, Carroll’s furiously whirling Red Queen reigns over the other thirty one chess pieces; and in Wonderland’s flower garden, tiger lilies, daffodils, and bread-&-butterflies dance a soaring waltz.
The performance of the ballet, historically one of the company’s most popular works, will be followed by a slightly zany English Tea during which children (and adults) in the audience will be invited to have complementary tea and sweets with Alice, the White Rabbit, and the other madcap inhabitants of Wonderland.
