Hansel and Gretel are the children of a poor carpenter. Fearing starvation, they venture into the dark forest and leave a trail of breadcrumbs so they can find their way home again. Unfortunately, Hansel and Gretel become lost. They find a house made of ginger bread and candies, and unable to resist, begin to eat it. An old woman who lives inside invites them in and prepares a bed for the night.
The woman, however, is a witch who has built the house to entice children to her, so she can turn them into cake and cookies!
She orders Gretel to climb into an oven to be sure it is hot enough to bake, but Gretel guesses that the witch intends to bake her, and tricks the witch into climbing into the oven and closing it behind her. The Candy house rewards the children by giving them many treasures which they return to their father.
* A note from the puppeteers: Although some think this story gruesome, the puppets of the Drawbridge Theater make it all in fun, with the valuable lesson of never going inside anyone's house without parental permission! And, of course, they live happily ever after!
This show is most appropriate for ages 4 and up. Reservations are strongly recommended.
Family fun at every performance! This show runs approx. 50 minutes.
The audience is always invited to visit backstage. Have a chance at being rowned 'Emperor or Emperess' of the Drawbridge Castle. Surprises at every performance. Fun for the entire family!
