Children may try their hand at weaving and spinning with the Boston Area Spinners and Dyers, gardening activities with the Waltham Garden Club, and everyone enjoys the large craft fair, wagon rides live music and Morris dancers, puppeteer, historic demonstrators, and farm animals.
Other major attractions are the Sheepshearing tent, the herding dog demonstration and the crafts fair. In the shearing tent, shearers Andy Rice and Kevin Ford demonstrate both modern and traditional shearing techniques. Dave Kennard and his talented herding dogs give demonstrations of how a shepherd and his dog control and move a flock of sheep. The crafts fair offers hand-crafted goods for sale by over 50 of the regions finest crafters.
Entertainment
Entertainment includes live music with local favorites The Pine Hill Ramblers and The Moody Street String Band, traditional English country dancing by the Commonwealth Morris Men, an encampment by members of the historic reenactment 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, traditional crafts, spinners, weavers and basket makers.
Wagon Rides
A tractor-pulled wagon ride will circle the farm fields, members of the Waltham Garden Club will offer gardening activities for children, visitors may take a ground-floor tour of the mansion, and food vendors will be on site. Parking is free. Sorry, no dogs allowed. *Additional charge for wagon rides and house tours.
Cost
Admission is $10. Children 12 and under and Gore Place members free (children must be accompanied by an adult). AAA and WGBH discounts available.
Directions:
Gore Place, 52 Gore St. is just off Rt.20 (Main Street) near the Waltham/Watertown line. By public transportation: Red Line to Central Sq., then take the 70 or 70A bus toward Waltham. Gore Street is 1-1/4 miles west of Watertown Square.

About Gore Place:
Gore Place served as a summer home for Christopher and Rebecca Gore where they entertained such notable dignitaries as the Marquis de Lafayette, Daniel Webster, and James Monroe. The 1806 mansion and grounds are owned and operated by the Gore Place Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Estate.

Regularly Scheduled Mansion Tours Begin each year on April 15. Tours available Thursday through Monday 11am to 4pm (last tour must begin by 3pm).
