The Town of Acton Recreation Department is proud to host Acton’s Annual Winter Carnival at NARA Park on Saturday, February 2, from 12-4 p.m. There are many great activities scheduled and now that winter has actually arrived, we look forward to introducing our new ice skating rink located at the new upper field gravel parking area.
Highlighted family-friendly activities include Mix 104.1’s Wellness on Wheels Tour who will be making a stop at our event from 2-4 p.m. with Mix Music, healthy snacks, great tips, and fun souvenirs!
We are proud to announce that NARA Park has been included on their tour as part of the best event destinations in New England!
Acton’s Winter Carnival will be the setting for the 2nd Annual Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough Human Dog Sled Races, a special fundraiser activity!
Registration is now open, so grab a group consisting of a family, work, neighborhood, or friends and join the fun.
Klondike sleds are provided and entry forms can be obtained on Recreation’s event page located at www.acton-ma.gov/events.
There are lots of fun activities for everyone.
Keep warm at one of our campfires while toasting marshmallows sponsored by Cambridge Savings Bank, enjoy DJ music from Crystal Entertainment, learn how to make an igloo hosted by the Boy Scouts, enjoy a tractor hayride in the Park, try your snowball throwing skills with our snowman target game ($1 for 3 balls-win a prize), sled down NARA’s well-known hill, children can have their face painted for free by Kindercare Acton, all ages can join our annual Snow Broomball Game with the Acton Boys Youth Lacrosse members, see model rocket launches by the Central Massachusetts Spacemodeling Society, enter to win our snow castle contest and kids can even paint the snow!
Acton Recreation will be selling Wish Lanterns ($5 each) which we plan to launch at the conclusion of the event-as a new activity to our Winter Carnival.
Proceeds from the Wish Lanterns, Snowball Toss, and Re/Max Balloon rides, will be used to support the special events at NARA Park.
Don’t forget to bring your own skates and sleds.
The Re/Max Hot Air Balloon will be onsite pending favorable weather conditions and availability.
Food will be available for purchase including: hot dogs, chips, fried dough, cotton candy, soft drinks, coffee, and more.
Along with Cambridge Savings Bank, we have received donation support from Joseph Perry Plumbing and the Acton Lions Club.
