The Archaeology Fair is an event that features archaeologically themed programs and interactive activities for the whole family. This is your chance to dig into archaeology and uncover the past!
The event is part of the programming for Massachusetts Archaeology Month. It has grown every year since it began, thanks to the museums, institutions, and individuals who volunteer to share their knowledge and passion with the public. Activities are created and presented by archaeologists, educators, and other specialists.
This year’s presenters include the Archaeological Institute of America, Boston National Historical Park, Diablo Glass School, DIG Magazine, a flintknapper, Legio III Cyrenaica, American Textile History Museum, MA Board of Underwater Archaeological Resources, Massachusetts Archaeological Society, Massachusetts Historical Commission, Museum of African American History, Museum of Science, Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography (Cambridge), Plimoth Plantation, Public Archaeology Lab, Inc., NH Archaeological Society, NH Dept. of Recreation and Conservation, Semitic Museum, Strawbery Banke Museum, and Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. Attendees can explore multiple aspects of archaeology and participate in activities involving pottery, textiles, tool making, shipwrecks, and more!
The fair will take place at the Museum of Science from 9:00-2:00 on Friday, October 19th and from 10:00-3:00 on Saturday, October 20th. The event is free with Museum of Science admission and it will be fun and educational for all ages.
