Sep 29th visitI visted this farm with my wife and 19 month old and had a good time. It was my first time picking apples, even though i'm a lide long New Englander. My son had a blast and enjoyed the animals, especially the chicken and roosters. The orchard was picked pretty clean near the main roads but once we ventured in deeper, we found plenty of good trees to choose from. The BBQ wasn't that great but overall it was an enjoyable day. We got there about noon and it was just starting to fill up and by the time we left at 3:30ish, it was packed
Very Disappointed With BirthdayWe had my son's 2nd birthday party there. It was run by a very unorganized highschool student (Junior I might add). She chatted with other co-workers instead of running the birthday party. She didn't explain anything the parents or children, knowbody had any idea what was suppost to happening throughout the party. Not to mention how crowded the birthday barn was. We had a child join our party that was from another party. I was so dissapointed after spending $250 dollars on a party.
DiappointedI went to Smolack Farms on Sun 9/16 with my husband and almost 2-year-old daughter. It was so crowded that you couldn't even get into the farm stand area, or near the animals. I figured that was our fault for coming on a weekend, but since I love the setting and it seemed like such a nice place, I decided to return during the week with my daughter, and my friend and her daughter.
We had a very mixed experience. We got there around 9:00am and it was pretty quiet. We were able to play at the playground, see all the animals, and walk around a bit before the five or six bus loads of kids and handicapped adults showed up for field trips. Then we headed to the farm stand to purchase some food to enjoy at the picnic tables, and some stuff to take home as well. Despite the fact that there was only one family in line in front of us, we waiting for 20 minutes before being helped. There were five women behind the counter, but only one of which was helping customers - and there were about six families in line behind us. The staff at the farm stand was rude, and very, very slow. When an older couple walked through the doors, straight past the line, and up to an empty register at the counter, someone came over to help them. Despite the fact that someone pointed out that we were all waiting in line, we ignored by the staff.
So...beautiful setting, but overpriced and VERY rude/slow staff.
