Imagine a firestorm in Boston. It happened in 1872. Join Cambridge filmmaker Bruce Twickler on Thursday, May 4 at 6:30pm at Boston Public Library's Rabb Lecture Hall for a special screening of the new film DAMRELL'S FIRE, the story of how unsung hero John Damrell saved Boston, and eventually all of the nation's cities, from burning down.
Detailed computer animation recreates Boston in 1872, as it was, and then follows the path of one of the largest conflagrations of the 19th century. Damrell's Fire will air on public television stations across the nation starting in April, appearing on WGBH, Channel 2 on April 27 at 8pm.
The BPL Screening will also be followed by THE MAKING OF DAMRELL'S FIRE, a feature not available in the television broadcast, as well as a discussion of the film and its original research.
