This classic film about a boat captain (Humphrey Bogart) who helps the French resistance while whooing a young singer (Lauren Bacall) was one of Joseph Cornell's favorite films. Cornell's admiration for Bacall, who made her debut in this film at the age of 19, also led to his creation of a major box dedicated to her that incorporated her image.
Joseph Cornell loved watching films as much as he loved making them. Join us on three consecutive Fridays for a mini film festival of Cornel's top choices. Made possible by the Lowell Institute.
1944, 100 minutes, Directed by Howard Hawks
Reserve by August 1.
