AIKIDO Classes for Children and Families

Aikido is a non-competitive martial art originating from Japan that redirects attacks via relaxed, flowing, spiral movements that protect one's self without harming the attacker and can be practiced by anyone. Children's classes provide an opportunity for students to become more agile, self-aware, focused and relaxed while learning to fall, roll and perform a variety of techniques in a friendly, non-competitive environment. Game play is incorporated in the classes. Parents may accompany their children in the classes with a gi.

Shobu Aikido of Boston offers Children's Aikido Classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 - 5 pm classes for 8 - 14 yr olds and Sundays 12:30 - 1:15 pm AikiPlay classes for 5 - 9 yr olds. Students pay $75/month or Aikiplay only for $60/mo. Siblings are half price. A Gi is required ($40 judo, $30 karate). Children 15 years and older are welcome to join adult classes.

The Chief Instructor, William Gleason Sensei, has been practicing aikido for 40 years and has taught in the Boston area for 28 years. The dojo is located at 34 Allen St Somerville MA 02143.
