The Buddy Walk and Family Picnic is a fun-filled day that brings together family members, friends, teachers, co-workers, and community members to raise awareness, and celebrate the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their accomplishments and contributions.
This year, the Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Registration and pre-walk festivities begin at 12:00 noon and the 3-mile, scenic walk around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield will kick-off at 1:00 PM. (There is an optional ride back at the halfway point.) Following the walk, families and friends will enjoy a picnic, music, face painting, and activities for the kids!
The Buddy Walk has grown over the years to become our largest fundraiser of the year. Last year over 1,000 people participated in the event to raise awareness about Down syndrome and help fund MDSC sponsored programs including First Call, Educator's Forum, and the annual MDSC Conference. With your help we believe we can make this year's Buddy Walk even bigger!

Driving Directions to Buddy Walk and Family Picnic at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield
Take Route 128, exit 40 to Route 129 Wakefield Center. Stay right at traffic circle and take first right off circle. Follow contours of lake for one mile heading towards center. Gather at the bandstand/tents near the playground. Parking is available along the lake or take a right onto Church Street and park in the lot near the playground or adjacent streets.
