Gloucester Schooner Festival
A fun time through the eyes of young kids.... Today's weather was cool and cloudy, which probably dampened the atmosphere, but touring the tall sailing ships and the coast guard boats was a huge thrill for my kids (2 and 3.5), and interesting and educational for me, and the kids were delighted with the small but effective aquarium exhibits at the maritime museum, and the kids' arts and crafts activities. Food was limited and mediocre (one stand with a long line selling overpriced food -- $5 for an awful hamburger, $4 for a hotdog -- on paper plates that blew all over the place. I suppose you could have gone to a real restaurant nearby if you were looking for a quality dininig experience. So, it was a fun day overall but this event is much smaller in scale than you might be expecting. Also, Gloucester is not the most photogenic harbor in the world; it's a real working harbor, so don't be expecting Rockport or Marblehead. :-) RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
