From hands-on activities about space exploration to Worcester's annual Earth Day Celebration, the EcoTarium's annual Earth Week will be packed with fun for the whole family. Earth Week takes place during the April school vacation week, Tuesday, April 16 - Friday, April 19, culminating with the annual Earth Day Celebration on April 19.
Blast Off! Take a trip to Space during Earth Week
This year's Earth Week theme, Blast Off!, looks at how humans explore the universe -- from rocket ships and robots to satellites and space probes.
Activities include launching stomp rockets, playing the 'Cosmic Quiz Show,' maneuvering remote-controlled robots, exploring the science of firing space probes, and making a model Earth orbiter to take home.
Interactive activities and demonstrations will be scheduled throughout the day, Tuesday, April 16 - Friday, April 19. Most Earth Week activities are free with EcoTarium admission.
In addition, a full schedule of space-themed films and live programs will be shown in the EcoTarium's Alden Digital Planetarium throughout the week (additional fee applies).
Annual Earth Day Celebration takes place on April 19
Earth Week at the EcoTarium culminates on Friday, April 19 with the annual Earth Day Celebration, one of Worcester's most popular events of the year.
All visitors enjoy half price admission and a day of family and earth-friendly activities and entertainment, including Chuck and Mud and musicians from the Joy of Music Program.
Earth Day Celebration is presented in conjunction with the Regional Environmental Council of Central Massachusetts and is sponsored by Webster Five and Bay State Parent. Since admission for Earth Day Celebration is half price, additional discounts and coupons do not apply.
Stomp back to the Jurassic Period in DinoTracks
After traveling through space, EcoTarium visitors can then travel back in time to the Jurassic period in the special exhibit, DinoTracks.
Using fossils as clues for learning about New England dinosaurs, DinoTracks invites visitors to walk on prehistoric foot prints, hear and feel dinosaur footsteps, and come face-to-face with some of the dinosaurs that made them.
