Every Sunday afternoon at 4pm, families with children with special needs will gather for a time of music, storytelling and worship at Disciples, UCC in Danvers.

Have you ever explored being part of a church but feared your child wouldn’t feel included?

We have.

So have a lot of other parents of children and young adults with special needs.

That is about to change for families on the North Shore.

A new thing is happening at 41 Centre St.

in Danvers.

Disciples UCC is a radically new church community partnering with people with disabilities and their loved ones, special educators and advocates to create a space where all are free to worship, lead and belong.

At 4pm on Sunday afternoons families with children and young adults of all abilities will come together to sing and pray in an open environment that encourages movement and never shushes noise.

Each week we will gather at the table and share communion.

Each week we will enjoy singable and engaging music.

Each week a voice of someone with a disability will be our storyteller (preacher) of the day.

At 5pm we will gather downstairs as a larger community for a simple meal before the traditional Disciples, UCC 6pm service begins.

Our space is fully accessible.
