Happy Birthday USA Family Day with Stamps

Celebrate our nation's birthday with postage stamps. Do arts and crafts activities with stamps, make envelopes to send letters, make a free stamp collection. Refreshments.

Activities for children and adults will include stamp scavenger hunts, games and puzzles, designing patriotic stamps, making envelopes from recycled paper to use to send letters to friends (the Museum pays the postage) and arts and crafts activities using stamps.

Children can also make a free collection of American flags on stamps to take home.

Children can have their photograph made into a “stamp” and refreshments will include lemonade and a piece of the July 4 stamp birthday cake.

The Museum’s special exhibits for the summer include “Old Glory on US Stamps”, “Mail Goes to War” “A History of the Boston Post Road,” and “Bicycles on Stamps.”

In addition, visitors can view the Museum’s other displays including ‘Civil War Envelopes”, “Zeppelin Mail,” “The Steinway Music on Stamps Collection” “Antique Stamp Cases” and “Children’s Postal Games.

” Families are invited to picnic on the Museum lawn.

The Museum gift shop will offer philatelic supplies and stamp related gifts.

The Museum is an official post office and will be selling current US stamps..

Throughout the summer, the Museum offers activities for children who always receive a complimentary packet of stamps and tips about how to start their own stamp collection.

The Museum has been voted by Nickelodeon as “one of the three best Museums in the Metro area for children.

During July and August the Museum is open Thursdays to Saturdays from noon to 5:00 and is air-conditioned and has free parking.

It will also be open on Sunday July 12 and Sunday August 9 from 10:00 to 3:00 with free admission including meeting dealers selling collectible stamps.
