The Museum's unparalleled setting overlooking the Charles River makes it the place to celebrate the Fourth of July! Enjoy an evening of fun science activities, family entertainment, the Boston Pops live broadcast from the Esplanade (weather permitting), and much more! The evening concludes with Boston’s spectacular fireworks display over the Charles River, viewed from the Museum of Science garage roof.
Let's Celebrate July 4th!
Join us for a Fourth of July celebration like none other atop the roof of the Museum of Science garage. You’ll enjoy an evening of science-themed family entertainment and activities, the Boston Pops live broadcast from the Esplanade (weather permitting), and more! The evening concludes with Boston’s fireworks display over the Charles River.

You must have an online account linked to your membership to purchase tickets through our website. If you prefer, you may call 617-723-2500 and purchase tickets over the phone. Our call center is staffed daily, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Tickets are sold first come, first served and availability is limited to the number of Exhibit Halls admissions permitted with your membership. You will receive an email confirmation of your order. Event tickets may be printed at home, picked up at the Museum box office, or printed at a self-service kiosk.
Schedule
5:30 pm: Doors open; entertainment and science activities begin
7:30 pm: Deadline to pick up preordered meals
8:00 pm: Entertainment and activities end; Boston Pops Broadcast begins
10:30 pm: Fireworks begin (subject to change)
11:00 pm: Event ends
Meals and Refreshments
Wolfgang Puck Catering meals must be ordered in advance. You are welcome to bring a picnic supper. The deadline to place or change an order is Sunday, June 18.
The night of the event, you may pick up meals between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. (Meals include a 20 oz. bottle of water.) Please select from the following meal options:
Hot Dog: $6.25 Served with a bag of chips
Cheeseburger: $7.75 Served with a bag of chips
Firecracker: $9.25 Cold fried chicken, potato salad, and watermelon
Greek Salad: $8.00 Romaine lettuce, watercress, peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onion, dill, oregano, feta cheese, Greek dressing on the side
Grilled Chicken Sandwich: $9.00 Sliced grilled chicken, dill harvarti cheese, preserved lemon aioli, arugula, tomato on focaccia
Roast Beef Wrap: $9.00 Sliced roast beef, pickled red onion, boursin cheese and horseradish spread, sour cream, watercress on wheat tortilla
Additional drinks and snacks will be available at the event.
Transportation
Due to large crowds and road closures we strongly recommend public transit. Visit mbta.com for subway, bus, and commuter rail directions.
The Museum garage closes at 5:00 pm on July 4. Parking is available the night of the event at several area garages, including the Cambridgeside Galleria. Membership parking discounts do not apply when parking in other parking garages. Cars parked in the Museum garage after 5:00 pm on July 4 will be towed.
