The Acton Family Network's annual Valentine's Day party is open to the public this year, in an effort to collect valentines of a special sort for orphaned children in India. The Acton Family Network is working with Agape International, a Sudbury, MA non-profit, to send all of the clothing collected at the event to five orphanages in India that house children with AIDS.
The family-oriented party will be held Saturday, February 9 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at St. Matthew's Church on Central Street in Acton. The admission price per child is $1.00 or one piece of gently worn children's warm weather clothing.
Children's activities will abound, with Valentine's Day themed craft projects, games, music, dancing and snacks. Light sweaters and sweatshirts, jeans and dresses for children ages 0-12 are needed (no winter clothing please). Especially needed are boys' jeans and dresses for girls eight and older.
