Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® mobilizes millions of children and adults to celebrate literacy in an effort to break the world reading record for having the most people reading the same book, on the same day.

On October 21, 2014, people across the country will unite to read the children’s book Bunny Cakes, by bestselling author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, in support of Jumpstart’s mission: to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.

WHO: Adults and children nationwide who value high-quality early education and love reading; Children of all ages, parents, teachers, schools, champions of early education, government officials, and celebrity supporters who value high-quality early education and love reading.

This year we are honored to have actor Josh Duhamel as our Read for the Record celebrity ambassador.

WHERE: Schools, libraries, community centers, parks, museums, and your favorite local spot to read, across the nation!

Each year, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record shines a national spotlight on the importance of early education and Jumpstart’s unique approach to closing the achievement gap before it’s too late.
