The self-portrait by Renaissance sculptor Baccio Bandinelli is one of the most unusual portraits in the Gardner Museum collection.

In this lecture, Oliver Tostmann will discuss the provenance, history, and context of this painting, one of the central works in the Donatello, Michelangelo, Cellini: Sculptors' Drawings from Renaissance Italy exhibition.

A series of related public programs will complement the Donatello, Michelangelo, Cellini: Sculptors' Drawings from Renaissance Italy exhibition, and will present new findings and insights from scholars of history and art history, conservators, and artists.
