Children will learn about insect structure and ecology and how to draw insects accurately using multiple techniques and media. In addition, children's creativity and imagination will be stimulated by insect-themed folktales, myths, artwork and music.
The series of classes will take place in the 1806 Governor Gore mansion. Students will have a chance to explore the mansion and discover how images of butterflies and beetles were used as decorations 200 years ago.
Classes are limited to 15 participants per session. Students may register for one or more classes. Each class is staffed by a Newton Public School educator and a Gore Place docent.
Class & Registration Information
Classes are held each day Tuesday through Friday, April 17 through 20, from 9:30 to 12noon. Fees are $35 per student, per class ($30 for Gore Place, family-level members), all materials and a healthy snack included.
Registration closes April 10. Register by calling Gore Place 781-894-2798. Registrations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Gore Place reserves the right to cancel any under-enrolled session. No space is guaranteed until full payment is received.
