Come hear Jean Schwartz sing familiar songs for children at the Fox Branch Library (175 Massachusetts Avenue). Thursday, February 15th. 4:00 PM. Preschool through First Grade. Drop in program.
Jean Schwartz loves to sing for and with children and their families. With her guitar and musical toys she brings to her audiences traditional folk and silly songs, and an occasional original. Her audiences are always encouraged to participate, whether singing along or shaking out their sillies.
Jean’s musical past includes learning to play the accordion at age 4, studying flute at the New England Conservatory of Music (then getting a B.A. in geology and enduring countless bad jokes about 'rock' music) and singing with the Opera Company of Boston and the Boston Lyric Opera. Jean began playing the guitar after her son was born in 1987, and found singing with children to be what she liked best of all!
In addition to doing kids’ shows and family concerts, Jean has a regular schedule singing with children in Greater Boston and Metro-West area preschools, and is a frequent performer for Boston Public Library children's programs. She is a member of the Children’s Music Network, the Folk Alliance, and the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston.
