With its funky bass rhythms, retro-soul brass arrangements, euphoric gospel singers, and esoteric orchestrations, the songs on Currency of Man transport us back to the late '60s and early '70s.
The music reminds her listeners that, while often compared to such musical icons as Nina Simone, Judy Garland, Miles Davis, Edith Piaf, and Astrud Gilberto, Gardot is a unique talent with a beautiful voice and a well-earned reputation as one of the great live performers touring today.
