Join Trio Emet for “brb”: an evening of chamber music by Beethoven, Rota, and Brahms.

The program includes two definitive works of the clarinet trio repertoire: Beethoven’s Trio in B-flat major, Op. 11, and Brahms’ Trio in A minor, Op. 114.

Sandwiched between these two major pieces, the lesser-known Trio by Nino Rota, a composer most widely recognized for his music from The Godfather, is an alternately sober and joyous work that never strays too far from the Italian dance idioms so familiar to the composer.

Clarinetist Eric Elder, cellist Jacob MacKay, and pianist Natsuko Yamagata formed Trio Emet in the fall of 2014.

Having met as students at Brandeis University, they took their name from the Hebrew word (meaning “truth”) in the university’s seal.

Trio Emet: brb will take place on Sunday, February 7, at 7:00 PM in the Slosberg Recital Hall at Brandeis University; 415 South Street; Waltham, MA 02453.

This concert is free and open to the public.
