SingPositive is a community-based, non-auditioned intergenerational chorus which sings every Sunday in Jamaica Plain, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Spontaneous Celebrations community arts center. Kids participate along with adults.

Our ninth season starts on February 7, 2016, and runs for fifteen Sundays until our spring concerts on Sunday, May 15 and Saturday, May 21.

Prior chorus experience not necessary, music reading ability not necessary, though it can be helpful.

All ages, religions, ethnicities welcome.

We perform with a professional band, and sing at JP events like Wake Up the Earth and the Lantern Parade around Jamaica Pond.

Details of the chorus are here: www.singpositive.org

Here is what our members say:

• SingPositive includes individuals and families of all ages.

It's nice to interact with people of different age groups in a fun setting.
It's community-based - kids meet other kids in their community, adults meet other adults.

There are social events outside of rehearsal.

The choir in JP has become *very* close.

• There are some songs for just the kids, some for just adults, and some that the kids and adults sing together.

One of the conductors will take the kids and teach them their part while the adults work on something else.

They're really great with kids.

• It's truly something parents and kids can do together (equally) and bond over.

• There are babysitters at each rehearsal so that you don't have to be watching your child the whole time.

It's pretty informal - parents having to occasionally attend to their kids during rehearsal is expected.

• The songs are very fun, and not too hard to learn.

You don't have to be able to read music.

Recordings of each voice part are made available online.

Visit our website (www.singpositive.org) for more information and to register- you can come for a trial rehearsal or two if you want.
