Australian pop sensation Betty Who will take the stage at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum on Dec.

8 as part of the second season of RISE, the Museum’s increasingly popular contemporary rock, pop, and hip hop music series that features rising talent among young artists.

The featured performer that evening will be the cutting edge, electronic pop multi-media musical act, Knower, whose performance style art is akin to the late David Bowie.

Both Betty Who and Knower are Berklee College of Music alumni.

Performing in the Community Spotlight that evening will be Safiyyah Johnson, R&B and pop artist.

Betty Who, an Australian born, 80s style pop singer, has earned a reputation for being fearless and inventive in her danceable, energetic music.

Trained in classical cello but raised on pop music, she has forged an eclectic path for her emerging career.

She attended Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and later Berklee.

Last year, her breakout debut EP, “The Movement” caught the attention of a growing base of fans, many in the LGBTQ community.

Her lead single, “Somebody Loves You,” debuted at #4 on Spotify’s Most Viral list with 6 million streams.

“Time” magazine named her one of 14 to Watch in 2014.

“New York Magazine” described her as a mix of early Madonna, Katy Perry, and Robyn “with spunk and confidence.”

Betty Who released “The Movement” independently, and her grassroots success led to a deal with RCA.

The record company released her follow up EP, “Slow Dancing,” which debuted at #1 on the ITunes Pop Chart in 2014.

That year, she performed the title song on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and opened for Katy Perry on tour.

Her Gardner Museum performance will be an acoustic stripped down set with a four-piece ensemble.

The evening’s theme will be Celebrating the Light of Unity.

RISE concerts begin at 7 p.m., and a cash bar is open to guests, beginning at 5 p.m. so they can wander around the Museum’s famous Courtyard, sip cocktails around the Cloisters, explore the art-filled historic building, and enjoy the modern Renzo Piano wing.

Tickets are required for RISE and include Museum admission.

Admission is $27 for adults; $24 for seniors; $17 for members; $12 students and children; and youth age 7 and under not admitted.

For information or to purchase tickets in advance, visit www.gardnermuseum.org or call 617-278-5156.

Artists for the 2017 RISE series have yet to be announced, but the concert dates are: Feb.

9, March 30, and April 27.

The generous lead sponsors of RISE are the Abrams Foundation and Fidelity Investments.

The series is also generously supported by Hal and Jodi Hess and Valentine Talland and Nagesh Mahanthappa.

This program is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which receives support from the State of Massachusetts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Boston Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and administrated by the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture.

Media Sponsor: The Improper Bostonian.
