Sense of Adventure: July 9
Come venture along the sanctuary trails on a sensory tour.

We will explore the magic of the outdoors by using our many senses.

Let's see what we can discover using our eyes, ears, nose, hands, and even taste.

Using found materials from nature, we will create a nature collage.

Owls: July 16
Become a wildlife biologist as we hike the trails to see where owls live.

We'll learn about their habitats, view owl mounts, and disssect a real owl pellet to discover what they eat.

On our return, we will create an owl collage from natural materials.

River Ecology: July 23
We will construct a simple sailboat from bark and leaves, and then we will hike to the river to sail our tiny schooners.

Using strainers and buckets, we will dip for organisms from the river's edge, look for evidence of beavers, and scan for birds from the observation tower.

The Forest Floor: July 30
The forest floor is teeming with life.

Using hand lenses, we will examine the anatomy of earthworms, sow bugs, salamanders, centipedes, fungi, and more.

We will explore the layers of the leaf litter and then construct tiny elf houses out of forest-floor materials.

We'll conclude our morning by creating a tiny plate garden made from natural materials.

From Boston and the south: Take Rt I-95 north to exit 50 and follow Rt 1 north. At the junction of Rt 1 and Rt 97, turn right onto Rt 97 south (toward Beverly and Danvers). Follow Rt 97 south and take the third left onto Perkins Row. Follow Perkins Row for 1 mile, and the sanctuary is on the right.

From the north: Take Rt I-95 south to exit 53A and follow Rt 97 south. At the junction of Rt 1 and Rt 97 in Topsfield, stay on Rt 97 south and take the third left onto Perkins Row. Follow Perkins Row for 1 mile, and the sanctuary is on the right.
