Life of a Beaver: July 13
Beavers are fascinating animals that live here at the sanctuary.

We will examine a beaver mount and then go for a walk to see where beavers have built their dams and lodges and left scent mounds.

When we return we will make beaver dioramas from clay and found materials to take home.

Life of a Pond: July 20
A pond surrounded by cattails, reeds, and shrubs is full of life, from tiny water boatmen to frogs, turtles, and herons.

We will take a walk to a pond with buckets and nets to see what we can find.

On our return we will use clay to make a pond creature to take home.

Life of the Forest Floor: July 27
The forest floor is teeming with life if we look closely enough.

Take a walk with us through the forest to look at mosses, lichen, fungi, and more.

We will roll logs and look for creatures that make their homes on the forest floor.

On our return we will make plate gardens to take home.

Life of the Meadow: August 3
A meadow with grasses and wildflowers is home for many insects, from bees and butterflies to grasshoppers and crickets.

We will take a walk to a meadow to see how many different wildflowers we can find, and then take a closer look using nets and collecting jars.

When we return we will create cut-paper pictures of what we have seen.
