Enjoy Family Hay Day at Spencer Pierce Farm, 5 Little’s Way, Newbury. Salt marsh hay – know why it’s “better” than regular hay? Why do four out of five gardeners put it on their garden as mulch? Know why it’s the single most important reason for the success of the early settlement in Newbury? Learn about one of Newbury’s and Newburyport’s most important national resources, make a model of a traditional haycock, see images of salt marsh hay farming in New England, and take a hayride through the fields of the historic farm. Children can help staff feed hay to the rescued farm animals now living there.
