Kids and educators are invited to enjoy innovative activities, interactive displays, live animals and music performances (including Ben Rudnick & Friends!) in addition to the wonderous flower displays at the New England Flower show.
Event Highlights
American Textile History Museum - Fantastic Flax
Costumed teachers demonstrate flax processing on colonial era tools, then guide visitors to make a colonial toy to take home. Flax is used to make linen, an earth-friendly ecological way to produce cloth for people.

New England Wildflower Society - Bugs Go Green
Meet a giant ant and ladybug and learn how insects help plants stay green and growing. Create your own thumbprint bug to take home. We will demonstrate how insects help pollinate, disperse seeds and fend off plant predators-all in the cause of green plants!
Herb Society of America - Crafts from the Backyard
Children can create a “magic” wand to help brighten there night. They can also mix their own sweet smelling packet of potpourri petals.
Radical Reptiles and Amazing Amphibians
Live native reptiles and amphibians to see and learn about. Shells, skins and shadings to touch and feel. It’s all about camouflage! The green helps these creatures survive here in New England.
Strawbery Banke Museum and Historic Gardens
Seeds of the past- Growing a Greener Future
Interpreters and costumed role players will make recycled paper seed packages and share heirloom seeds with children as well as teach how to make herbarium specimens.
MassHort Junior Master Gardener Program
Recycle, Reuse, Renew-Making Seed Cards
Children will make seed cards using recycled construction paper and cookie cutters. Just shape, dry and plant to grow a beautiful mix of flowers either in a pot or outside this spring.

Make a seed mosaic to hang on your wall and be reminded of the beginnings of plants.

Rainforest Reptile Shows - Come Visit the Mini Zoo
Check out some of the creepy and the crawly residents of the rainforest! The zoo will include 10-14 different kinds of bugs, frogs, snakes, and lizards as well as the RRS herpetologist will be presenting several different animals in an ongoing demonstration. Some of the animals may include large tortoise, a larger lizard, a 7 to 8 ft. boa or python and of course an American alligator.
Rainforest Reptile Shows unique programming engages children of all ages at a hands-on level. Experience direct contact with live animals, artifacts, and fascinating stories about the animals and their natural habitats. We offer different fun, dynamic, and educational programs to choose from.
Fox 25 Weather Team
Children get a chance to work their own star magic on screen! With Fox 25 TV staff, children get to try their hand at working on camera in front of a real green screen forecasting the weather.
Project WILD - Become a Wildlife Detective
Calling all children to become wildlife detectives to discover who might be enjoying your garden! Create your very own animal tracking ‘field guide’ to take home and also receive the pocket guide to MA animal tracks.

South Shore Science Center - Critters of Massachusetts
Audiences of all ages will enjoy an up-close introduction to a variety of local animals, meet live turtles, snakes, frogs and a barred owl that rely on Massachusetts habitats. Test your nature knowledge with hands-on activities and take home a special science center coloring sheet.
