Auditions for North Shore Players production of 'I Remember Mama' are to be held at Hogan Regional Auditorium on Sunday, March 11th at 6 pm, and Tuesday, March 13th at 7 pm, with a call back on Wednesday, March 14th at 7:00pm. Cast will include 9 men, 13 women (plus some boys and girls).
A classic play:
One of the most heart warming studies of American family life yet to reach the stage and one of the great favorites among non-professionals. The play, told as a narrative by the main character, chronicles the lives of a Norwegian immigrant family living in San Francisco.
Shows how Mama, with the help of her husband and Uncle Chris, brings up the children in their modest San Francisco home during the early years of the century. Mama, a sweet and capable manager, sees her children through childhood, manages to educate them and to see one of her daughters begin her career as a writer. Mama's sisters and uncle furnish a rich background for a great deal of comedy and a little incidental tragedy, while the doings of the children manage to keep everyone in pleasant turmoil. No description can do justice to the rich characterizations that fill the stage.
Rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday evening 7-10 and Sundays (time yet to be determined)
Performances will be on the third weekend in May at the Hogan Regional Auditorium in Danvers.
